Herzl’s Vision: How Can Zionism be Instructive for Social Justice Today?
February 14, 2022 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
Theodor Herzl is known by most as the father of political Zionism, which ultimately birthed the contemporary state of Israel and reunited the Jewish people with our indigenous homeland. Many don’t realize that Herzl was himself a progressive, a person who understood that real progress meant the protection of all marginalized communities, including the Jews, and someone who believed that Zionism was a movement with the potential to liberate all oppressed peoples. Together we will explore how lessons from the past remain relevant to this day. We’ll be hearing from David Matlow, the preeminent Herzl historian, founder of the Herzl Collection, the world’s largest private collection of Herzl memorabilia.
